*LEDGER Ledger Window
>
Using the Ledger Window
The ledger window available in MediSoft Advanced is used to view
patient accounts, apply payments to a patient account, change trans-
actions and delete transactions. You may pop up the patient ledger
window by pressing [F7] after entering a patient chart number. The
ledger window displays the patient's account activity in chronological
order beginning with the first current billing entry. History
transactions may be accessed by pressing the up arrow to go backward
in time; current transactions beyond those listed on the display may
be accessed by pressing the down arrow to go forward in time.
Charges, payments and notes for the patient both current and history
are shown in the ledger window.
.CO Using the Ledger Window
The balances listed in the ledger window are the past-due amounts
shown in operation 2, Patient Information. Current payments are not
applied to the past-due amounts shown in the ledger window.
.PA
Applying Payments in the Ledger Window
The ledger window assists in payment application by adding up
transactions to verify the total of the payment and the billing
entries to which it applies. To tell MediSoft Advanced which entries
you wish to be added, you select the transactions. To select a
transaction, position the highlight bar on the transaction and press
[RETURN]. An asterisk (*) appears next to each selected entry and the
total of selected entries appears on the bottom line of the ledger
window box. To deselect a transaction, position the highlight bar on
the selected entry and press [RETURN]. The asterisk will disappear,
telling you that the entry is no longer selected.
.CO Applying Payments in the Ledger Window
You may select entries in batch mode by date range or document number.
To select by date range, press [F6] and enter a range of dates. To
select by document number, press [F8] and enter a document number.
Selecting an entry on the ledger screen has no affect other than to
tell the system which transactions to add together. The system does
not save your selections to the transaction file or track them after
the ledger window has been closed.

saved, the change window will close and you will be returned to the
ledger window.
Only current transactions may be changed; history transactions may not
be changed.

The ECS Documentation Window allows you to enter extra information
for procedures and diagnoses that might be required by the patient's
insurance carriers to process your electronic claim. This infor-
mation may be accessed and changed from options 2 and 3-1. The
text that you enter in this window will be included with any
electronic claims that you send for this patient. If you no longer
wish to have contents of the window included in your electronic
claims, you must blank out the lines of the window and resave it.
